X-Saber loves this card. This card is both free beater and free floater, as upon reaching the field he can special summon Emmers/Darksoul, giving more defense to your field. And if you happen to have another Saber you can normal summon, there goes the set-up for Faultroll.
Karakuri? I don't know, Karakuri works quite like X-saber. They have their own version of Emmers (Nisamu), Fulhelm (Kuikku), Boggart (Ninishi), and recruiter with small body (Inashichi). However, Earth Spirit doesn't boost the deck as much as it does to Saber. We are all aware that Torrent is @2 this format, so is Solemn Warning. Earth spirit can summon tuner from grave, and you can just summon another monster from your hand, however, if your play is disrupted the moment you normal summon your second Karakuri monster, it will be a minus for you. However, in Saber, you can Earth Spirit into Darksoul for a safer play and end up with even. I say this card works better in Saber.
Rock Stun can also gives this guy a chance. KM Guardian is already a pain to deal with. Even more a second KM Guardian.
The effect to skip your battle phase isn't very bad. Deck such as Saber and Karakuri can harvest advantage just from massive synchro play (field & hand disruption for saber, OR a lot of draws for kuri), while Rock Stun can just skip the battle phase and relax there with KM guardian guarding your field.
